The Crossing - Winter

Текст с Bandcamp’а: “Celtic music would not be what it is today without the invaluable efforts of our good friend Robert Burns (well, maybe not good friend, since he has been dead for two hundred years), who saved many tunes that would have surely disappeared if he hadn’t slapped some lyrics on them. We return the favor by putting a melody and a chorus onto his poem, “Winter–A Dirge.“ lyrics The wintry wind extends his blast And hail and rain dost blow Or, the stormy north sends driving forth The blinding sleet and snow While tumbling brown, the burn comes down And roars from bank to brae And bird and beast in covert rest And pass the heartless day “The sweeping blast, the sky o’ercast“ The joyless winter day Let other fear, to me more dear Than all the pride of May The tempest’s howl, it soothes my soul My griefs it seems to join The leafless trees my fancy please Their fate resembles mine! Through the night, through the night Through the night and all Tho’ all my strength be sorely spent And stars do die and fall To The my King I gladly cling When black winds howl and blow When all is done and battle won Let Christ receive my soul Thou Pow’r Supreme, whose mighty scheme These woes of mine fulfill Here, firm, I rest, they must be best Because they are Thy will Then all I want, (Oh! do Thou grant This one request of mine!) Since to enjoy Thou dost deny Assist me to resign from Dancing At The Crossroads, released June 1, 1993 Words: Robert Burns, Tony Krogh; Music: Tony Krogh“
