“More Than A Woman“ is a Bee Gees composition that they recorded for “Saturday Night Fever“ as well as Tavares who put an R&B spin on their version. Both songs were featured in the film. The Bee Gees version was not issued as a single in the US and the UK, I’m guessing it was because they knew it would crush the Tavares version. Tavares is also a brother act and they were backstage at Madison Square Garden when Barry Gibb approached them and offered them the chance to record it. Producer Freddie Perren took over the reins as he did on “If I Can’t Have You“. Perren employed the same rhythm section of Bob “Boogie“ Bowles (guitar), Scott Edwards (bass) and James Gadson (drums), and recorded it as his own Los Angeles studio, which he called Mom & Pop’s Company Store.
