Full title reads: “America. Tragedy ... fantastic in its horror! Hundreds killed & injured as boiler of 40 year-old ferry boat ’Observation’ - crowded with workmen - explodes.“ New York, United States of America. High angle shot of dockyard where explosion happened. Closer shot of two rowing boats above the wreck. A small piece of the superstructure can be seen above the water. Part of the damaged boat rises through the water. A man in a deep sea diving suit climbs down ladder into water. Part of the wreck is hoisted out of the water by a dockside crane, as the wreck is lifted part of it breaks off and fall back to the water. Shots of nearby ship damaged by flying planks of wood when the ferry ’Observation’ exploded. C/U of windows in tall building - one victim was blown seven stories into the air (according to the voiceover). C/U of man replacing glass in shattered window.
