The Bards - Irish Soldier Boy (Ireland, 1975)

A number of groups have adopted the name The Bards over the years, but this particular outfit consisted of Martin McElhone, Tony Hegarty, John Nesbitt and Jimmy McArdle. They released a run of LPs in the 1970s in Ireland, the UK and the US. This traditional ballad is about an Irish soldier who gave his life in the 1798 Irish Rebellion and it was released on their 1975 LP “Irish Coffee.“
