Le Mans 1955 - Reel 2 Part 4 (1955)

Reel 2 Continued. Lots of nice behind the scenes shots. All the names of cars and drivers are taken from the voice over - please inform Pathe of corrections. Reel 1 was originally reel 1 and 2. A journalist types on old fashioned typewriter. Radio broadcasters speak into microphones (they wear earphones). Cars still racing on the track at Le Mans with smoke from the accident still rising in the background. The Juan Fangio and Stirling Moss driven Mercedes comes round the corner (it uses a radical air brake to assist in the cornering). Ferrari’s, Jaguars and Masserati all round the bend on the Le Mans course. Les Brook in his car as it is stuck on a sand bank at the side of the track. Two French policemen (Gendarmes) try to use their radio equipment. Car No 35 reverses of escape track and returns to the race. Car speeds past grandstand. Dusk begins to fall and cars turn on their headlights as the race continues. Clays (sp?) from Belgium brings his Jaguar into the pit lane. Other driver gets into car.
