Some areas of the UAE experienced freezing and torrential rain. Dubai roads are flooded after heavy rains and thunderstorms hit parts of the United Arab Emirates. Following the downpour, residents were advised to avoid beaches and stay indoors as traffic and flights were also affected. People across Dubai shared photos of the heavy rain on social media. In one video, a man was seen riding a small boat on a flooded road, while other videos showed waterlogged and flooded roads. Rainwater can be seen flowing down the road into the Khor Fakkan Valley, while strong currents carry away the historic desert sands. Footage showed a road suddenly flooded as water flowed down a mountain in Khor Fakkan. Cars break down in troubled waters with no chance for a future. The National Meteorological Center released a video showing waterfalls formed in Fujairah. Authorities advised residents to avoid areas prone to flash floods. The forecaster reported freezing rain in Sharjah, Dibba Al Hisn, Khor Fakkan and parts of Fujairah. The Met Office is forecasting more rainfall. Earlier, authorities said that this month is considered the last in which abnormal precipitation will fall on Krachna and temperatures will begin to rise, “especially in the second half of the month.” The government does not plan to compensate for the damage caused by the flood, so the population affected by the disasters is forced to solve their problems alone. Authorities warned people to stay away from beaches and areas prone to flash flooding and to use caution while driving. The UAE Meteorological Agency has issued a yellow-orange warning. Dubai Municipality has activated a rainwater preparedness plan as more rainfall is expected in the UAE. The government has called on the private sector to allow flexible working hours after the rains, although more rainfall is forecast over the next few days.
