Cover #136. FIRST COVER FROM THE NEW STUDIO!!! Insanely stoked to have this place up and running. Even though it’s far from finished acoustically and furniture-wise, I’m finally able to get recording in there!! This Muse song is a song I ended up playing a whole bunch in Los Angeles and it’s possibly my favorite somewhat “recent“ song by the band. I think it’s fantastic. It’s also interesting to tackle, as it has layered drums throughout the whole track. How you implement the tom fills, the snare flams and such, is all up to you; how you can make it work. The main groove however is way funkier than most people play it. Notice the lack of a floor tom on the downbeats - it’s only playing the swung upbeats! And then after the fill leading into the second verse, the standard shuffle-pattern starts on the floor tom.
