“Pongo The Pup“ - Pongo’s Rodeo (1925)

c 1925 Pathe presents its third all-British cartoon of Pongo the Pup. Pongo sees a sign advertising a steer throwing competition with a £100 prize. He shows the audience his empty pockets and dreams of a money bag with £100 in it. Silhouette of buildings in the background reminiscent of the Wembley Exhibition. A goat suddenly appears, headbutts Pongo then kicks him with his hind legs. (As we know from “Pongo Cleans up the Goat Family“, Pongo and Goats do not get on.) The goat propels Pongo through the Rodeo sign - goat laughs. Pongo emerges seeing stars, he has an idea. He will practice his lassoing skills on the goat. He throws his rope up in the air and lassos the goat. The goat runs off pulling Pongo with him. Pongo bashes into a post with a globe on top. He sees more stars. He pulls the pole out of the ground and has a temper tantrum. He takes of his “jacket“ and puts up his dukes. He punches into the air in a boxer style.
