Ombrage - Blood & Prosperity (full ep, 2021)

Canadian artist Witchkiller, long-time friend of the Order, and mastermind behind Alkymist, Blosse, Calvaire, Nachteule and more, returns after something of a hiatus, with a new EP for his scorching project of ominously raw vampiric black metal, Ombrage. To paraphrase our man Cody Ward in his review on Black Metal Daily; “Sculpted By The Sea’ comes in hot with razor sharp riffing, drums blasting in a heavy, pounding cadence that lends itself nicely to the churning guitar this track brings. The whole song will have your head banging from start to finish.” That pretty much sums up this whole churning, tightly focussed maelstrom of a release. It has intensity and space, claustrophobic passages that crush, and little glimpses of light for affecting contrast.
