1.6 MPI Timing Belt Replacement (BSE & BGU Engine)

Thank you! 👉 🐙 This is not a comprehensive guide, but I have a video of the whole process (up to the point of reassembly) for my own reference. It took me about 4-5 hours to do it the first time, including consulting the workshop manual and recording this video (which slowed me down considerably). I think it could be done in under two hours if I had to do it again. This is on a 1.6 MPI (engine code: BSE & BGU) in VAG models (Volkswagen, Skoda, Seat, Audi). The process should be similar for other VW 1.6 engines (BSF, CCSA, CMXA etc). Parts Needed: - timing belt and tensioner (I used GATES K015489XS kit) - water pump (I used HEPU P572) While you are at it, you could do the serpentine belt and tensioner as well (but it’s not that much harder to do that one separately).
