Vladimir Kara-Murza, one of President Putin’s most vocal critics, was convicted of treason and other alleged crimes and jailed for a quarter of a century. His mother, Elena Gordon, stood beside beside the dock - a glass cage - in a Moscow courtroom as the verdict was given.
