Rafah Story: Get close to a displaced family west of Rafah

For more: Earlier in May, Israel called on Palestinians in Gaza’s southern city of Rafah to evacuate and head to what it calls an expanded humanitarian area in Al-Mawasi, west of Rafah, as the military was pressing ahead with its plans for a ground attack on the city at that time. Nearly half a million Palestinians have fled Rafah since then, according to the UN. Many have been displaced multiple times and have had to pack up and head into uncertainty again. So what are the conditions after the evacuation? CGTN recently talked to a family who set up a tent in the west of Rafah after fleeing the city. “To be honest, life here is simply not ’life’,“ Enas Abdel Ghaffar said. Her youngest son is suffering from fever and diarrhea due to sunstroke and there is a shortage of electricity and water.
