In this beginner tutorial I will explain how a compressor works inside FL Studio, Ableton etc. Audio compression is one of the most used tools when it comes to mixing and mastering, so understanding how audio compression actually works is essential if you’re a music producer who want to learn how to mix and master properly. A compressor can be very useful on vocals for example, as well as drums and so on. It can make vocals sound more even, by making sure that quieter parts become louder, and louder parts become quieter. It can also be used to make drums crisper and punchier. A compressor can also be used on lead instruments, bass guitar, and so on. There are really no limits. When used right, it can help make your mix sound fuller, warmer and punchier.
