The surviving film of Paul Weggener’s trilogy of movies surrounding the Golem, Der Golem is actually a prequel of sorts, thus proving this sort of thing isn’t new. Filmed in Germany, 1920, the political and social ramifications of this film are as thick as the expressionistic imagery throughout.
