Tribute to Slava Fetisov, one of the greatest defensemen in the history of hockey. Fetisov joined CSKA Moscow’s senior team in 1978–79 and recorded 29 points in 29 games as a rookie. In his fourth season, Fetisov scored 41 points in 46 games and named the 1982 USSR Player of the Year, a trophy he also won in 1985–86. He was voted USSR First-All-Star Team 9 times (78/79, 79/80, 81/82, 82/83, 83/84, 84/85, 85/86, 86/87 and 87/88). On the international stage, Fetisov is one of the most decorated players ever. He won two olympic gold medals (1984, 1988) and one silver medal (1980). He scored most points by defenseman and most assist of all player in both 83/84 and 87/88 Olympics. At the World Championships, Fetisov won seven golds (1978, 1981, 1982, 1983, 1986, 1989, 1990). He won 5 World Championship Best Defenseman awards (77/78, 81/82, 84/85, 85/86, 88/89) and was voted World Championship All-Star Team 9 times (77/78, 81/82, 82/83, 84/85, 85/86, 86/87, 88/89, 89/90 and 90/91).
