Caruso & Ponselle: 1909-1924 AIDA Act IV “Tomb Scene“ in HD

“A Virtual Duet“ - Enrico Caruso, tenor, and Rosa Ponselle, soprano sing “The Tomb Scene“ from Verdi’s AIDA Act IV. “La fatal pietra“ and “O terra addio“ recorded on Nov. 6-7, 1909 (Caruso and Gadski) and on Feb. 8, 1924 (Ponselle and Martinelli). All sessions recorded at Camden, New Jersey. The Ponselle/Martinelli sides were not published during the 78 rpm era. Digitally transferred directly from original 12-inch discs recorded acoustically and speed corrected. Magix audio software was applied to reduce noise and to enhance tonal qualities.
