Instrument Approach and Landing in a Valley. Winter Flying in Iceland - DA42 Twinstar - ATC Audio

Part 3 of 4. IFR Flight from Vestmannaeyjar (BIVM) to Egilsstadir (BIEG). Flight was delayed by an hour due to thick fog at Egilsstadir. The weather was patchy and changing rapidly all day. Take off was stunning from Vestmannaeyjar with good conditions but strong winds and high terrain giving some turbulence on departure. A pretty smooth 1 hour 20 minute flight to an instrument approach (ILS) and landing at Egilsstadir. Overall the flying was not too challenging but due to some tricky instrument approach procedures and limited diversion options, I had to pay a lot of attention in the preparation phase. 2020 DA42, Registration N42LR, equipped with the Garmin G1000 NXI avionics.
