Driving to Montreal, Canada from Manhattan

Friday, July 1st, 2016 - Driving from Midtown west, NYC. Took the usual north bound route out of Manhattan via the west side highway, through the Bronx and Yonkers, up the Taconic Parkway, towards Albany and heading up via 87 north into Canada. Followed Google map directions to a boarder control station in the boonies of Canada because it was apparently faster(?). 6 and a half hour drive, mostly uneventful. The KFC in Malta, New York had really bad(small) chicken tenders.
