PVRIS - “Hallucinations” (Studio Performance) You could hear it right from the start. The fierce anxiety driving 2014’s “St. Patrick“ marked the path that Boston’s PVRIS was going to examine as a band. Singer Lynn Gunn, guitarist Alex Babinski, and keyboard player Brian MacDonald were refining a pointedly dark tone, guiding guitar and synths tsunamis through a parade of self-examinations that came off both stormy and catchy. The trio has been playing with that equation through their ’White Noise’ and ’All We Know of Heaven, All We Need of Hell’ albums, tweaking short blasts of epic electropop into radiant tracks that owe as much to Florence Welch as they do Robert Smith.
