Various shots of Commonwealth Games Gold winner, swimmer Anita Lonsborough, arriving at Huddersfield Town Hall with her mother in a thick fog. She is greeted by the Mayor and is escorted to a civic reception. Crowds of people look on. Inside we see people applauding local girl Anita as her father looks on, then her three gold medals are passed round for people to look at. Anita poses with the medals. Intertitle reads: SYDENHAM. At her home in south London we see double gold-medalist Linda Ludgrove having a cup of tea with her mum and petting her poodle ’Goldie’. Her mother looks at a toy koala bear. Linda shows her mother the lucky American-Indian doll she always has with her. 15-year-old Linda goes back to Sydenham School in her Commonwealth Games outfit to hear her headmistress giving a speech.
