Putin unveils 10-year infrastructure plan of new railway lines and more connectivity with Asia

Russian President Vladimir Putin on Friday announced Russia’s ambitious plans for the next decade, focusing on massive infrastructure expansion, particularly in railroad transport. Speaking at a plenary session of Russia’s Railways meeting, Putin noted that the new railway lines including the Arctic and the Pacific ones, will help Russia link its already vast transport infrastructure to major logistics hubs in southern and eastern Eurasia. Putin also stressed the nation’s commitment to developing economic ties, especially with Asian nations, consisting 70% of trade turnover amid unprecedented sanctions from the West. With a 10% growth in exports to Asia and an over 50% rise to Africa, Russia aims to modernize key railway lines, including the Trans-Siberian railway, and improve port infrastructure in the Azov, Black, and Caspian Seas. Expanding the International North-South Transport Corridor (INSTC) is under discussion to link Murmansk and Mumbai for faster cargo transit. The Russian leader also mentions about creating an additional railway network in Russia’s far eastern regions, relieving the Trans-Siberian railroad and establishing a major logistical hub in the Urals and Siberia. __________________ ShanghaiEye focuses on producing top-quality contents.
