Nizhny Novgorod // The city on the Volga River // Sights and history

Nizhny Novgorod is a city in the European part of Russia, located at the confluence of two great rivers, the Volga and the Oka. Nizhny Novgorod has long been a trade center connecting the north and south of Russia, and to some extent it is a birthplace of the Russian capitalism. This city has its own Kremlin, metro system and even a rope way above the Volga River! This year Nizhny Novgorod celebrates tis 800 anniversary, and I visited it just after the celebration. It was interesting to learn about the city sights and how they are connected with Russia’s history.
