Restoration Antique Officer Rapier

Hi! Today, the restoration of an ancient officer’s rapier of the mid-19th century. The item was found and bought in France. The subject is not mine. The condition is bad. There is no handle, rust, dirt, careful manual restoration of the object is required. Let’s get started! Firstly, I disassembled the hilt of the sword, carefully. Then the long manual process of cleaning the brass parts of the handle and scabbard began. I used natural cleaning products, as well as jewelry methods. Next, cleaning the blade, just as carefully, for a long time, carefully. The most important thing was to keep the gilding on the blade. I did everything well! The scabbard. It’s interesting here, I checked several options, but I chose dry wood, in the end I glued it with natural leather and, having installed the fittings, painted it with protective paint. As usual, I did the test for you, please share this video. Sincerely, Alex. Thanks for attention! Good luck and health to everyone! With best wishes, Alex!
