Western front scenes - part 1. World War One. A great montage of Western Front scenes. Opens w/ shot of group of soldiers (US?) moving a tree trunk. Then; horse-drawn wagon approaching on dirt road. Mini tank on same road. Soldiers wearing helmets;gas masks; advancing to rt.; through smoke; carrying rifles w/ bayonets;they appear almost as silhouettes. Next a spooky quick glimpse of ghostly soldier in smoke- almost looks like stabbing w/ bayonet; or stumbling. Soldiers in ditch or trench; waiting w/ guns. Then soldiers walk through bombed area - destroyed trench or dugout? 1 picks up German helmet. Brief shot desolate burned battlefield. Corpse in woods - German? American soldiers pass by; w/ pistols- -search party? One looks at the dead man. Next; pan on cemetery. Pan on battlefield. Then different soldiers in woods - dense thicket of small trees. Pan rt. soldiers on hillside; some in dugouts. Then soldiers running across st. in semi-bombed village. Back to earlier scene bombed area. CU / MS Soldie
