Toccata de “Estalacticas y Estalagmitas“ de Daniel Real- Rafael Aguirre

Based on the amazing guitar piece called “Stalactites & Stalagmites“ written by composer Daniel Real Pérez in 2007, FORTUNATE GUITAR is a two-part work of audiovisual art produced in the Canary Islands featuring guitarist Rafael Aguirre, filmed by the composer himself, Daniel Real, showing the view from the composer of his piece. The diptych combines real images of Rafael Aguirre’s performance, matte paintings, stop motions and videos of canarian landscapes into an imaginative and surrealistic audiovisual speech that breaks the limits of ordinary performance videos, seducing the viewer into a profound experience. This first part of FORTUNATE GUITAR is a very calm and delightful phrase which structure is inspired by the cyclical processes of nature. The story tells us about the birth of a “tree-organ“, an original concept of a living musical instrument that grows randomly on the top of a mountain.
