The Chernobyl Liquidators

☢️April 26, 1986 was the date of the worst nuclear disaster in history. ☢️ What was supposed to be a standard safety test, ended up with the explosion of reactor number 4 of the Chernobyl Nuclear Power Plant in the Ukraine, in the Soviet Union. Once the fire was extinguished, and the danger of further explosions eliminated, what remained was a complete mess. It was a mess that someone had to clean up. Around 600,000 people were recruited by the Soviet government for the job. They were known as Liquidators.
