Wespe . 124 - Walkaround - Saumur Tank Museum.

Originally uploaded on 29 jul. 2017. The . 124 Wespe Feldhaubitze 18/2 auf Fahrgestell Panzerkampfwagen II was a German self-propelled gun used during WWII. It was developed because it became clear that the Panzer II, was an obsolete design and unsuitable as a main battle tank. The chassis, however, proved serviceable for providing mobility to the 10.5 cm field howitzer. The Wespe went into production on February 1943 until June 1944,it would see its first combat in 1943 on the Eastern Front. It proved very successful, and Hitler ordered all Panzer II chassis production be dedicated to the Wespe alone, at the expense of other projects, including the Marder II self-propelled anti-tank gun. ■ So want to help keep me and the channel going?
