Under five minutes into this game, Kasperi Kapanen had great tenacity on the puck to get a goal… Or did he? Sidney Crosby deflected the puck ever so slightly, which led to the puck getting back Isles net minder Semyon Varlamov. Mike Matheson continues to look better every game with his new team, making a few plays which resulted in Teddy Blueger having a virtually empty net at which to shoot. Evgeni Malkin, Bryan Rust, and Jason Zucker teamed up for a nice tic-tac-toe tally, and Rust capped things off with an empty net tally. Rust and Zucker each had 1G-1A—2 Pts, while Malkin had 2A.
