1968: Queen Elizabeth II Graces Premiere of Franco Zeffirelli’s “Romeo and Juliet“

Olivia Hussey and Leonard Whiting, stars of Franco Zeffirelli’s 1968 film Romeo and Juliet, are suing Paramount Pictures for sexual exploitation and the distribution of nude images of adolescent children. The pair were 15 (Hussey) and 16 (Whiting) at the time of filming. The lawsuit filed in California on Friday alleges that the child stars were assured by Zeffirelli before production began that they would not have to appear nude in the bedroom scene, only for the director to tell them when the time came that they must appear nude “or the Picture would fail.” This footage, filmed on 4 March 1968, shows Hussey and Whiting at the UK premiere of the film.
