Lacan on fantasy (2 of 9): Giving shape to sexuality

With some help from Slavoj Zizek and Laplanche & Pontalis, we explore the multiple (conscious and unconscious) levels of fantasy. Freud makes an appearance, as we consider how the ’psycho-sexual stages’ might help us think about the schooling of the libido. We maintain a double frame of reference throughout - referring both to the domain of sexuality and the socio-political realm - and draw on a reflection from Nelson Mandela to consider how fantasy is often both highly individual and nonetheless socially-shared, stereotypical.
