The Honored Artist of Russia and of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania, a corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Arts, a professor of painting, and since 2018 the head of the Department of Fine Arts at the well-known North Ossetian State University, Oleg Basaev has made a major contribution to the development of contemporary art in Russia. In 2010, the painter was awarded a Gold Medal of the International Federation of Artists. Oleg participated in numerous fine arts contests. In 2018, he became the prize winner of the international painting competition named after Amedeo Modigliani, which was held in Milan (Italy). In 2017, Oleg was awarded a second degree diploma at the international Master and the Student competition (in the Painting category), where he competed with the painters from Russia, Germany, China, and the USA. Oleg has become the finalist of the international competition held in Venice (Italy), and in 2001 — of the international fine arts competition organized by MercedesBenz in Barcelona (Spain). In 2019, he was awarded an Honorary Professor degree certificate (diploma) at the Heihe University in China. Oleg Basaev’s artistic path is quite interesting. In 1996, Oleg Basaev was invited to the USA by the Tabakman Museum of Contemporary Russian Art, where he became acquainted with the finest specimens of contemporary fine arts of Russian and foreign authors. This was subsequently reflected in his work. During that period, he began his series of metaphysical still life paintings, that have been showcased at a major exhibition of artworks of famous contemporary Russian painters. Oleg Basaev often participates in various art fairs. His artworks have travelled around the globe, reaching numerous museums, galleries, and private art collections.
