Dominique Sanda Tribute

Here are two soft songs, chosen to illustrate the beauty and talent of French first-class actress and former successful fashion model Dominique Sanda. Before the age of twenty-one, Sanda -- tall, blond and coolly mysterious -- had already left a permanent imprint on cinema history. She was born as Dominique Marie-Françoise Renée Varaigne in Paris, in 1948. She had escaped her convent education and upper-class Parisian life by marrying at the age of 15 (but divorced at 17) and enrolling in the École des Beaux-Arts to study painting. She appeared in such noted European films of the 1970s as Vittorio de Sica’s “Il Giardino dei Finzi-Contini“ (which made her an international star), Bernardo Bertolucci’s “The Conformist“ and “Novecento“, and Liliana Cavani’s “Beyond Good and Evil“.
