Pontoon Bridges (1914-1918)

Egypt. 1914 - 1918 Several shots of a Pontoon bridge being built across the River Nile by Australian Anzac troops. Soldiers are standing on a section of the bridge that consists of wooden boards laid across 4 rowing boats. They remove some of the boards so they can get into the boats. One section of the bridge is rowed down river; we see the Pyramids and power lines in the distance. A cheeky soldier puts his face into shot briefly on right side of picture. We see another bridge being constructed. This one is made of wooden boards on block supports in the river. The men run across the bridge and add more planks to lengthen it. Modified WPA record.
