The Aa Story (1967)

Widmerpool Hall, Nottingham. A man in 1905-style Automobile Association uniform steps from an antique AA box, wheeling a bicycle and turns his AA badge around to warn a couple in a vintage car of a police speed trap around the corner. A more modern AA patrolman turns up on a motorbike. Inside Widmerpool Hall, a man in a deerstalker hat hoists a large yellow balloon which was once used as a warning for speeding motorists. Various shots show AA patrol men being trained, working with instructors on car engines. They are also seen making the temporary AA signs you see pointing to special events, by stencilling the words onto yellow signs. Several shots show two trainee patrolmen arriving at the scene of a staged accident as part of their training; a senior officer makes notes on how they handle the situation. In the stores we see each patrolman being given his uniform and insignia / badges. M/S of an AA man’s kit, including petrol can, jack, foot pump, tool box, fire extinguisher, torch and grease g
