We all like to do sports activities but what verbs do we use when we want to talk about sport? So we do (the verb to do) sports activities. Let’s talk about some individual sports. For example, if I asked you what did you do at the weekend? Oh, I played football. Or I played volleyball. I played basketball. So ball sports we play those. Play golf, play tennis. To do is a verb that we use when we want to say something more stationary. To do aerobics or to do yoga. So I went to the sports club and I did some aerobics or I did some yoga. We also can use the verb to go. For example, I went skiing because it snowed for the first time. I went cycling because the roads were dry and there was no wind. So the verb to go. And if you want to start a new sport we can say TAKE UP and use the phrasal verb TO TAKE UP. I’ve taken up yoga. I have taken up basketball. Okay.
