Advancing with Watercolor: The Watercolor Plan “Reflections on the Harbor“

This video was done to support my class which meets in the Plein air along Cape Ann and the North Shore area. We meet at different parks and harbors throughout the summer painting watercolor outdoors. In video I discuss in more depth how the watercolorist deals with adverse weather and working conditions through devising a watercolor plan. This watercolor plan organizers are working thoughts and create a sequence in our mind by which we develop the painting. In today’s example I am choosing to work in a more of alla prima fashion which means finishing the painting in one go. This is a more difficult way of approaching a watercolor because we try to reach the color, total value, and edge quality in the first pass.
