Franco Corelli [a] Vowel

Franco Corelli singing through his entire range on an [a] vowel. We begin to see a pattern among the great tenors of singing an open and pure [a] vowel upto C4 whereupon they round the vowel out into an [o] or [ao] and then finally from F# and upwards they turn the voice and the [a] is closed down to a deep and dark OO or [u] vowel. You can hear the similarities with Filippeschi from the previous video. It should be noted they were certainly not taught by the same teachers and had careers in different times. Filippeschi retired in ’61 which was the year of Franco’s Met Debut (and Pavarotti’s career debut lol).
