Super Bomberman 5 (SNES) Playthrough - NintendoComplete

A playthrough of Hudson Soft’s 1997 puzzle-action game, Super Bomberman 5. Played through the “normal“ story mode and finished with the good ending. This Japanese-only final installment to the long running Super Bomberman series ends the line of SNES titles on an interesting, somewhat unexpected note. While all of the graphic and sound assets are redone for this edition, all of the stages here are based on ones from prior SBM games, and seem to be styled in many ways after Bomberman ’94, as well as SBM3 and 4 that both “borrowed“ a fair amount from Bomberman 94. The updated art style and the excellent music (original and remixes) certainly help the levels to feel like more than mere generic copies, the game does lack a distinct feeling of “freshness“ if you have played all the others. There are quite a few new things here though, the most notable being the branching paths that let you decide which levels (and ultimately which boss) you’ll hit in each world.
