Born James Faye Hall in 1922, he was taught to play piano at an early age by his mother. He actually got his stage name under strange circumstances. In the mid forties there was an existing sibling stage act called The Hall Brothers who our man played with. They were Clayton, Saford and a Roy Hall. Roy was killed in a car crash in 1943 so our man here adopted his name and became ’Roy Hall’ and went on to form his own band. His new band ’The Cohutta Mountain Boys’ made their debut on Fortune Records with a
