Prince William Announces Earthshot Blue Peter Competition

Prince William has announced Blue Peter will launch a new competition for children, with a chance to be recognised at the Earthshot Prize. Founded in 2020 by the prince, The Earthshot Prize recognises those who have helped face environmental challenges around the world. Blue Peter is the longest-running children’s TV programme in the world. Prince William hopes that the new competition with the show will identify “the next generation of young inventors who can make a change”. Children aged 5-15 will be invited to submit an original idea aimed at achieving one of the five ‘Earthshots’: Fix our Climate, Protect and Restore Nature, Clean our Air, Revive our Oceans and Build a Waste-free World. This year Prince William attended the Earthshot Prize alone, following Princess Kate’s cancer diagnosis. In previous years the Royal couple have attended Earthshot Prize events together.
