Band: KINO Year: recorded in 1985/re-issued in 2021 The full information about the album is below the video Ночь (The Night) is the fourth studio album by KINO, initially supposed to be the third. In spring 1985, the band headed to audio engineer Tropillo’s studio to record a new album. Though they only came there at night to avoid the attention of officials, another problem soon arose: it was suddenly closed for repairs until the fall. Meanwhile, the guys went to audio engineer Vishnya’s to record the album It’s Not Love, and bassist Titov left the band shortly after. In the fall, Tsoi went back to the studio to mix the previously recorded material, but it didn’t go well. Tropillo had a bad temper, so the two of them argued a lot while working on the sound and eventually distributed the album the way it was as a compromise. “Of course, I was hurt that there was no picture of me on the album’s cover. But I understand that Vitia and the guys were hurt, also,“ bassist Titov later remembered. In 1988, the Soviet government made the only official recording company release it officially to show the public that the music underground was a myth. It did sell a million copies, but the band didn’t get royalties.
