Detained for a Sandwich: Russia’s New Absurd Repressions

Since the beginning of Russia’s full-scale invasion of Ukraine, more than 750 people have been charged in criminal cases over anti-war protests. Russians who oppose the war unleashed by the regime are charged with hooliganism, vandalism and use of violence against representatives of the authorities. The most popular articles are spreading so-called ‘fakes’ about the Russian army and ‘discrediting’ the federation’s armed forces. It is not known what charges will be brought against the participants of the new flash mob on Red Square. But the police have already suspected them of holding an unauthorised action.
