Gosaikunda is one of the 108 lakes located on the way to Lauribina Pass, Langtang district of Nepal. According to legend, Shiva saved the universe by drinking a deadly poison that destroyed all living things. Legend has it that after taking the poison, Shiva wanted to drink fresh water and he struck the ground with his trident. At that same moment, Lake Gosaikunda appeared with crystal clear life-giving water.
