House Party 1987 (from old VHS! Picture quality not great!)

I recently unearthed a videotape with three hours of footage of a massive house party my brother and I threw on Labour Day Weekend of ’87 (in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada), two months after graduating High School. The folks were at the lake and I’d rented a video camera and portable VCR for the weekend to capture the event for posterity. I managed to edit it down to the length of a feature film, which plays out like one in a way, being that there is an actual beginning, middle, and an end. Captured on video is only a small portion of the bash; I’d estimate that maybe only ¼ of the party is covered (there’d have been more but the video camera and gear went missing for a portion of the night so I missed taping a lot of good stuff, including the police visit at midnight). The decade of the ’80s is perfectly encapsulated in this video; the fashions, hairstyles, and music. No cell phones, computers, video games or big screen TV’s, just lots of hair, smoking, partying, AC/DC, Def Leppard, and P
