Tex Avery and Michael Lah’s Strangest Running Gag

These cartoons are “The Isle of Pingo Pongo“, “Cross Country Detours“, “Wacky Wildlife“ from Warner Brothers and directed by Tex Avery, while the last clip is “Sheep Wrecked“ from MGM and directed by Michael Lah. Tex Avery was a great short film director who made some very funny cartoons, in the 50’s he suffered a mental break down and decided it’d be best to take a break from directing cartoons, animator Michal Lah became his successor and created six more shorts which were also quite good. After a brief return to cartoons Tex directed commercials for the remainder of his career, meanwhile Mike became an animator at Hanna Barbera. “The Bashful Buzzard“ and “The Wise Quacking Duck“ were directed by Bob Clampett, not Tex or Mike, which is why they aren’t here despite each having a gag in the same vane of this.
