Yew - III (full album, 2023)

III is the debut full length album from Oklahoma City resident, Yew. It is another excellently cinematic landmark in the unfolding saga of Americana Black Metal, that draws from the historic resonance and parched, perilous wilds of the US Midwest. The sound is suitably desolate and dry, with an ominous bassy presence like looming grey thunderheads over the protagonist figures depicted throughout the course of the album; a raw melancholy pervading the spirit of these nine tracks. Definitely an album that will appeal to fans of this burgeoning subgenre and bands like Wayfarer, Untamed Land, Vital Sprit, and Dark Watcher.
