Nothing to Lose - San Diego Pop Punk Band

Here you’ll find a digitized VHS recording of a Nothing to Lose set from the summer of 2002. If you were a frequenter of in the late 90’s and early 2000’s, you’ll recall Nothing to Lose as one of the top ranking pop punk bands on the platform. As for the video existing, I was in a Christian pop punk band at the time, Something Special, and I had somehow become friends with Evan White’s girlfriend at the time, Tenaya (Evan being the guitarist of NTL). This was in the early days of the web, so we likely met through the forum. Nevertheless, in letting Tenaya know that I was in a band in Texas, she passed along word to NTL and before I knew it the guys were coming to Fort Worth. I believe they stopped in Arizona for some stops before finally arriving in Texas with a U-Haul attached to their Cadillac. You’ll see crosses behind the band in this video. The show was held at Club 412 -- a now defunct venue that featured christian acts of the hardcore and punk variety. Also on the bill was Atention Deficit, a “locally famous“ pop punk act that regularly shared the stage with bands such as Bowling For Soup, Rufio, Taking Back Sunday and Brand New. The crowd at this particular show was interesting. I remember it being crowded, but outside of a handful of kids, not many in the crowd knew NTL. Combine this with some tuning issues and scattered smack talk, the atmosphere was a bit cringe at times. Still, the night was one I’ll never forget. The dudes I had streamed through a 56k modem and fallen in love with were on a bill with my band and I was stoked. Kudos to my baby sister or whomever filmed this. I’m glad to have the memory on video and be able to share it with NTL fans across the country.
