After the acclaimed Get On Board, with Ry Cooder, winner of this year’s Grammy Award, Taj Mahal realizes a long-dreamed project: paying homage to the sounds of the big band era and music composed in the 30/40’s. Recorded in Oakland, California, in Savoy we find fourteen standards composed by Duke Ellington, George Gershwin, Louis Jordan and Lionel Hampton. Taj is a great artist and interprets in a personal way the classics holding well the vocal weight of the collection. The record is produced by John Simon (The Ban, Janis Joplin, Leonard Cohen).
