Aviator Girl. Ups and downs of a Pilot’s Job | RT Documentary

The Aviator Girl film by RT Documentary follows the journey of young Russian women who chose to become pilots and highlights challenges they have faced on the way. Ekaterina Alekseeva, an aerobatics pilot, says the dream of flying hit her rather unexpectedly, as none of her family was connected to aviation. Still, her parents didn’t object to her decision and let her take a shot at it. Katya’s first experience was in a glider which taught her to feel the plane and comfortable in the air. Then she was able to move to aircraft designed for aerobatics. After that, she has to prepare a pre-designed and a “dark“ programme that’s compiled right before the show. There is a lot of stress on the job, but Katya is convinced it’s totally worth it: the rush, the feel of the sky is so overwhelming there is nothing like it. Of course, flying aerobatics is risky. First, the pilot must be in excellent health because loads as high as 5G are experienced during the execution of stunts
