Rare footage of Empress Alexandra’s Name Day in Livadia on 23 April, 1912

In his 1912 diary, on a bright April day in Livadia, Nicholas II wrote: “23 April. Sunday. The weather turned out wonderful on the Name Day of my dear 10 1/2, in front of the house, there was a parade of all the garrison parts, then obednya, greetings by all and a big breakfast. then obednya, greetings by all and a big breakfast. Everything ended at 2 o’clock.... Alix got a headache and went to bed earlier.“ This rare film footage is a snapshot of the moments described in the Tsar’s diary entry.
